Where the data comes from
- Provider records: the CMS NPPES NPI Registry API, fetched when you search and cached for up to a day.
- Deactivated NPIs: the CMS NPPES deactivated NPI report, dated Nov 02 2026. It is updated monthly.
- Taxonomy codes: the NUCC Health Care Provider Taxonomy code set, version 26.1.
We don't change the records. If a record is wrong, only the provider can fix it in NPPES.
What we are not
We are not CMS, HHS or any part of the government, and we are not a credentialing verification organization. An NPI lookup is a useful first check, not a substitute for primary source verification.
How the site is paid for
There are no ads. The single lookup is free. Businesses that need to check large lists pay for the bulk tool.
